Android Privacy
This policy covers the Android app. For iPhone, read the iOS privacy policy.

MIAO requires no account and contains no ads, analytics SDKs or tracking SDKs. Photos, names, notes, dates, places and preferences are stored in the app’s private area on your device. We do not operate a server that receives your collection. Widgets can show photos and information on your Home screen.
Age group
We ask your age to adapt the features. Only a minor/adult group is saved on this device, separately from backups. The age you enter is not retained or transmitted. For users under 18 or of unknown age, external maps, automatic location, geocoding, photo GPS autofill, sharing and backup export are disabled. The album, photos, diary and manually entered places remain available. Changing language, importing a backup or restarting the app does not change the age group.
Photos and permissions
The camera is used when you take a photo. Alternatively, you can choose a photo using the system picker; we receive only the files you choose. For adults, available photo dates and coordinates may prefill an encounter; for minors, only the date is used. Saved photos are re-encoded without their original EXIF metadata.
For adults, foreground location permission is used to prefill a place. You can deny or revoke it and enter the place manually. We do not request background location. Denying location permission does not remove GPS metadata from photos you choose to import.
External services for adults
Maps use MapLibre Native and OpenFreeMap. HTTPS requests to tiles.openfreemap.org convey the displayed map area and connection information, including your IP address, but not photos, names or notes. OpenFreeMap may keep IP addresses and URLs in error logs for 7 days and during security incidents for up to 30 days. It may use Cloudflare as a CDN. Policy: https://openfreemap.org/privacy/.
Android’s Geocoder converts coordinates to addresses and may send coordinates, including those from imported photos, to a network service provided by the system or device manufacturer. That provider’s policy applies. Photos and the diary work offline; uncached maps and place lookup need internet.
Sharing and backup for adults
Cards include the visible photo and information, such as name, city and dates, without adding coordinates or the exact address. Review them before sharing: photos and text can still reveal personal information. ZIP backups contain the collection, including encounter coordinates. You choose the recipient app or destination. Cloud providers handle exported files under their own rules. Uninstalling MIAO does not delete files already exported. MIAO disables standard Android automatic app backup.
Your control
Edit or delete encounters in the app, revoke permissions in Android settings and delete exported files from their destinations. Uninstalling MIAO removes local data according to the operating system. We do not have a server copy to recover or delete remotely. Consult providers’ policies for data they process. For questions or rights, email info@musme.app; we use the message and email address to reply. You may contact your competent data protection authority. We will update this notice when relevant features or services change.
