MIAO

Privacy

In short: MIAO does not collect personal data. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Your cats’ photos and memories stay on your iPhone.

Who runs it

The MIAO app is developed by Alexander Hidalgo. For any privacy question, write to info@musme.app.

Data stored on your device

MIAO saves only on your iPhone, in the app’s private area:

This data is never sent to us or to third parties. If you delete the app, iOS deletes it along with it.

Permissions requested

PermissionWhat it is for
CameraPhotographing a cat when you tap Snap. You can always import a photo instead.
PhotosThe iOS picker lets you choose a single photo; MIAO only receives that one. Date and location saved in the photo, when present, are used to prefill the encounter.
Location (while using only)Prefilling the place of the encounter. You can deny it and enter the place by hand.

Apple services

To show the map and turn coordinates into a readable address, MIAO uses Apple’s Maps services (MapKit and Core Location). In these cases your iPhone sends Apple the area of the map being displayed or the coordinates to convert, according to Apple’s privacy policy. MIAO does not receive this data and uses no other external services.

Sharing and backup

When you share a card, you create an image that contains the cat’s photo, name, city and dates, never coordinates or the exact address. You choose where to send it, through the iOS share sheet.

When you save a backup, you create a folder with your collection’s data and photos in a location of your choice (for example Files or iCloud Drive). The backup also contains the coordinates of the encounters: keep it like any other personal file.

Children

MIAO does not collect data from any user, including minors.

Your rights

Since we keep no personal data on our systems, we have no data to view, correct or delete on your behalf: everything is under your control in the app. You can edit or delete single encounters, or delete the app to remove everything.

Changes

If how the app works changes in a way that matters for privacy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
